March 25 City Council Meeting

Amending Resolution 2024-23

Speakers for and against Resolution 2024-23

Councilman Miller voted 'yes' on Resolution 2024-23

The little speech he made before casting his vote clearly shows he had no idea the plans had already been made.

This Mount Vernon realtor, John Yoder, spoke 'for' Resolution 2024-23. He said sidewalks would increase property values. That's true for homes with sufficient space between the house and street. But 8 ft. sidewalks in front of homes already sitting right on the street?

Dena Hess, who lives in Howard spoke 'for' Resolution 2024-23. She goes west on 229, turns right onto Edgewood Rd., then left onto E. High St. to get to work- when she could stay on Gambier Rd. (229) and it would take her straight to the parking lot behind the building where she works. She also makes it sound like cars have to stop and wait to pass if one is coming from the opposite direction. Not true at all.

Paul Mcneal starts by saying Edgewood is the safest and most direct route for Nazarene University students getting to the shopping area, but thinks Edgewood should be improved to make it even more convenient- for students who are only here 9 months of the year for 4 years. What about the residents who live on Edgewood?

Resident Richard Stallard obtained the application submitted by the city to ODOT which shows the entire secret plan kept hidden from residents and even City Council members. It was obtained by using a Public Records Request sent to the State of Ohio. He had sent the same request to members of City Administration, but his request to them was ignored.
